For school districts, recruiting, hiring and onboarding new teachers typically means big job fairs, face-to-face interviews and in-person onboarding.
We all hope to get back to that model soon. But in the meantime, school districts are still hiring talented teachers to guide students’ learning – and for the moment, they must do it remotely.
We see our role as helping educators grow their own leadership skills so they can turn around and grow up-and-coming leaders within their own system. That pipeline of leaders begins with teachers.
When considering candidates, it’s always important for districts and schools to prioritize “cultural” fit with the organization. Does the person share the district’s values, attitudes and beliefs?
This is more complicated in a virtual environment, but it’s doable. Technology – and a shift in approach – can help bridge the physical distance.
To help our districts adapt to this remote context, our Holdsworth District Support Team compiled a toolkit with practical tips and resources for virtual recruiting and job fairs, hiring and selection and virtual onboarding. You can download them below:

To provide additional support, Holdsworth is hosting a virtual career event for all 13 of our partner districts on June 10. We’re excited to provide this opportunity for our partner districts to meet and interact with aspiring teachers. Visit TeachingTexans.org for more information and to register for the event.
