Having experienced firsthand the impact of the right teacher on the trajectory of her life, Kayan McKreith has passionately dedicated her 12-year career to supporting educators and students.
Most recently, Kayan worked as a human resources professional for one of the fastest growing school districts in Central Texas. In her role, she helped to reduce processing time for key functions and increased capacity, allowing human resources to focus on more complex staff needs and providing excellent customer service. Additionally, she spearheaded an adult education initiative aimed at facilitating a no-to-low-cost college education for district employees seeking teacher certification.
Kayan began her career in Austin teaching at Title I middle schools. She later worked for Denver Public Schools, helping to increase teacher diversity through targeted recruitment at historically Black colleges and universities and Hispanic-serving institutions.
After her time in Denver, Kayan returned to Central Texas to work for an Austin-based non-profit providing services to unaccompanied minor migrants to the United States. In that role, she spearheaded organization-wide projects and implemented systems to increase efficiency and handle the 400 percent growth in staff in two years.
Kayan holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a master’s degree in education administration from Concordia University.
In her free time Kayan loves to travel, visit the amazing wineries in Central Texas and spoil her spunky puppy.
