How the School Board Institute Works

01 Building upon 20+ years of high-quality curriculum and case studies from the Center for Reform of Schools, the institute covers foundational knowledge plus relevant, timely topics. Participants leave knowing exactly what it means to model strong governance in public schools.

02 The Institute is offered two times annually, once over the summer and once in late winter/early spring. Space is limited to 80 participants from eligible districts and RSVPs will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

03 Registration is open until all spots are filled. The Superintendent’s participation is required, and each district can send up to three board members.

Superintendents and their elected trustees learn side by side about governance, core beliefs, theory of change and goal setting – all in an environment built for the kind of reflective thinking and trust building that’s hard to do at home.
