Video: How districts are ensuring a great principal for every school

At Holdsworth, we believe strong, inspiring principals make for vibrant, successful schools. Yet in today’s challenging environment, many districts have seen their school leadership benches depleted, stoking concerns about their future ability to place a great principal in every school. Now more than ever, principals must be prepared to navigate ambiguity and respond to challenges with creativity.

“Education has always been hard, but for the last several years it’s been really hard.”

Dr. Josie Hernandez-Gutierrez

Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, Waco ISD

Aspiring principals need more opportunities within their own districts to learn, grow and prepare for these critical roles, and, when given support and guidance, district leaders can design and develop systems that make this possible.

The 18-month Holdsworth Collaborative is designed to help district leaders build a strong bench of aspiring principals who are ready to step into school leadership positions when they arise.

“We need the very best, the very brightest leaders to continue to produce the very best and the very brightest students.”

Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora

Superintendent, Tomball ISD
