Dr. Shari Becker Albright

Dr. Shari Becker Albright serves as an advisor to the CEO at Fair Winds Management, supporting the financial leadership side of Charles Butt’s philanthropic work after seven years as president of the Charles Butt Foundation and the Raise Your Hand Texas Education Foundation, supporting public education across Texas.

Before her foundation leadership, she was the Murchison Distinguished Professor of Practice in Education and Chair of the Department of Education at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. In that role, she served as faculty in the undergraduate program and across the three graduate programs, including the Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Arts in School Psychology programs, and fully redesigned and directed the Master of Education in School Leadership and the Center for Educational Leadership.

In the San Antonio community, she serves on the municipal board for Pre-K 4 SA, San Antonio’s citywide early childhood initiative, and on the board of Early Matters – San Antonio. She is on the UP Partnership Leadership Council, the Industry Advisory Council for SA Works, the board of the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio, and is the immediate past-chair and long-time board member of the SAISD Education Foundation. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of Trinity University and the Region 14 Comprehensive Center, which supports public education across a seven-state region including Texas.

In 2022 and 2026, Albright received the San Antonio Education Champion Award from the San Antonio Report Education Forum, and the Headliner Award for Education in 2016 from the Association for Women in Communication. She also received the Legacy Award from the Community for Life Foundation.

A San Antonio resident for more than 40 years, she spent five years in New York City as Executive Director of Education at the Asia Society and served as Chief Executive Officer of the Asia Society International Studies Schools Network. Before New York, she was principal of San Antonio’s first public school of choice, the International School of the Americas, and was named the 2004 Texas High School Principal of the Year by the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards. That same year, the school received the Goldman Sachs Prize in International Education. Her background also includes service as an elementary teacher and administrator. Albright was selected as a Kellogg National Leadership Fellow in 1997, which laid the foundation for her focus on fostering leadership in others, a hallmark of her career.
